Sustainability Policy

Our mission is to support the planet by educating our community in making change from the grass roots.

Our team is committed to working together to drive a collective sustainable culture and provide a space for teaching values whilst preparing the next generation to do the same.

Our sustainable values

  • We can all make a difference to our planet

  • Every little action helps

  • As a community we are accountable for our actions

  • Quality education for all

We will reduce our impact on the planet in 6 target areas:

Building Houses, which will stand the test of time:

Our houses are designed with materials which are built to last

We are reasonably look to reduce energy usage where possible and are designing the building with that in mind

Our gyms are carbon neutral, bringing the best in class products for smarter workouts, improved recovery more accessible and sustainable for everybody; including the earth

Cutting our consumption:

Jaego’s House will send zero waste to landfill, reduce the waste we send to landfill and ultimately our oceans.

We will aim to source pre-loved books and toys for our creche and nursery with a focus on sustainable materials

We will work closely with Grundon Waste Management to address and find ongoing, effective ways to reduce waste. By working with only one partner allows us to ensure accountability and benefit from greater visibility where our waste ends up and how it gets there.

Sourcing our food locally:

We will endeavour to source our food as locally as possible, reducing its footprint, supporting local suppliers and ensuring limited use of plastic packaging - including the way our food is delivered.

The chemicals we use in the building:

We will be making sure any products used in-house are consciously chosen including laundry, housekeeping, sanitation and dishwashing and will have refill options or products with a low impact on our environment.

How our staff travel to work:

Work towards reducing our staff travel footprint by hiring locally, supporting green methods of travel, and raising awareness of schemes which they can take advantage of: such as the Green Commute Initiative.

Our impact on our immediate surroundings:

We will look to conduct our own community clean-ups of the surrounding area including the canal.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: The Sustainable Development Goals or Global Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a "blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all". The SDGs were set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and are intended to be achieved by 2030

B Corporation: In business, B Corporation is a private certification of for-profit companies of their "social and environmental performance."

Net Zero: A strategy set out by the UK Government for decarbonising all sectors of the UK economy to meet our net zero target by 2050.

How We Will Achieve Our Commitment

We are dedicated to making Jaego’s House a force for good. We will achieve this through three headline sectors:

Company Goals

We will work towards becoming a registered B Corporation business and align ourselves with the UK net zero targets by 2050.

Documenting our sustainable journey in year 1 of operating in order to reduce our footprint and emissions in year 2.

Industry Goals

We are on a mission to contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We will align our business to three goals where we can start to make an impact;

UNSD GOAL 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

Make cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

UNSD GOAL 12: Responsible Consumption & Production

Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.

UNSD GOAL 15: Life on Land

Protect, restore and promote sustainably managed forests, combat desertification.

How :

  1. We will create and publish an impact report.

  2. Reducing, reporting and closing the loop on our waste with the support of Grundon Waste Management.

Through membership, a tree will be planted per member every month supporting Ecologi in regenerating landscapes. We will plant through the Ecologiplatform, which has achieved a Gold Standard, a recognised certification body that works to ensure every penny of climate and development funding goes as far as it can and has been awarded 'best for the world' 2022 by B Corp twice, for governance and environment.

Community Goals

Support our local community in maintaining and highlighting its clean surroundings that will include roadsides, the canal and its banks. Providing circular solutions to our waste, including toys and books and creating interactive, impactful sustainable workshops for our members.

  1. We will support Little Village who run a baby bank network, collecting, sorting and passing on pre-loved clothes and equipment in their vision of “thriving communities where families share their pre-loved kit and every child under five has the start in life they deserve.” Not only will we look to pass on items from Jaego’s House but support our members in also doing the same.

  2. We will lead community clean ups of Regent’s Canal and surrounding roads.

  3. We will be launching a sustainable events program.

  4. We will share our impact on social media.
