What time do you open and close?

7.30am to 6pm.

Do you do half days?

Unfortunately we no longer offer half days

What are your prices?

Under 3's:

Part time (anything less than 5 full days): £105 per day 

Full time (5 full days per week): £95 per day 

Over 3's:

Part time (anything less than 5 full days): £103 per day 

Full time (5 full days per week): £92 per day 

Do you accept childcare vouchers?

Yes. We will be signing up with companies such as Sodexo, Computershare and Fideliti.

Do I get 15 hours of free childcare?

Your child will be eligible for 15 hours of free childcare from the term after their third birthday. This will be spread across the 51 weeks of the year, equating to approximately 11 hours per week. Please note that once your child is eligible for the 15 hours of free childcare, the £10 discount per day full time (five days a week) will no longer apply.

Do you offer a sibling discount?

Yes. We offer a 5% discount for siblings. Please note that once your child is eligible for 15 hours of free childcare, the 5% discount will no longer apply.

What does my nursery fees cover?

Your nursery fees cover childcare, meals that fall within your sessions, all creative materials, nappies, wipes and extra curricular activities (excluding offsite activities and trips).

Do you provide nappies, wipes and formula milk?

Yes. We will provide nappies and wipes as part of your nursery fees.

If you want a particular brand of nappies or wipes then please feel free to bring these to nursery with your child.

We do not provide formula milk as this is personal to each child. We request that parents bring the correct amount of formula needed for their child.

Do you charge a registration fee?

Yes, we charge a non-refundable £100 registration fee.

Is there a minimum number of attendance days per week?

Yes, we ask for a minimum of three days per week.

Do late pick up charges apply?

Yes. We charge late fees to try and ensure that our staff are able to leave on time. We charge £1 for every minute you are late after closing time.

Can I book extra childcare if required?

We hope we are able to offer ad hoc childcare, but this will be subject to availability. If we have space on the date and time you require then we will gladly fit your child in.

Can you accommodate children with special educational needs and/or disabilities?

Yes, of course. We are fully inclusive and believe that every child deserves the best start in life. Please speak to our nursery manager for more details on how we can support you and your child.

Does the building have disabled access?

We have a lift that will allow access to the building. We can discuss this in more detail to ensure we can meet your child’s needs.

Do you offer settling in periods?

We acknowledge that every child’s attachment, wider experiences and settling period will be individual to them. Kensal House Nursery offers a set of two free settling in sessions. If after these settling sessions, your child requires more sessions to support with settling in the nursery, these will be accommodated at a chargeable rate.

VISIT 1 – 2 HOURS

On the first visit, we invite you and your child to spend some time with your key person to discover Kensal House Nursery and ask questions. This gives the key person a chance to get to know you and your child, and for the child to familiarise themselves with their new environment.

VISIT 2 - 2 HOURS

You will be invited to accompany your child for the first 15- 30 minutes of the settling in session and, all being well, you will then be encouraged to leave your child with their key person for the remainder of the session.  

Do you offer tours of the nursery?

Yes, our nursery manager will be delighted to take you on a tour of the nursery. We offer tours on Friday, please message us via contact@kensalhousenursery.co.uk to find out more.

Do you have a waiting list if your nursery is full? Is there a charge for this?

Yes, we do have a waiting list if the nursery is full. A non-refundable £150 registration fee must be paid when joining the waitlist and registering your child.

What precautions are you taking in light of the pandemic?

Our nursery rooms are cleaned thoroughly daily with one deep clean per week. All staff are trained on best hygiene practices and children are supported and encouraged to understand the importance of hygiene. We will continue to be led by government guidelines.

What curriculum do you follow?

At Kensal House Nursery, we teach a unique education programme that takes the best ideas and approaches from a range of early years teaching practices. With input from education experts and parents, our programme provides exceptional care, support and structure for all, while also being adaptable to suit the individual needs of each child. Our programme is built on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) ensuring that your child will experience a rich and varied curriculum across EYFS’s seven areas of learning.

Are the children all in a room together?

No. We have five rooms and children are split according to their age and stage of development.

What does a typical day at Kensal House Nursery look like?

Arrival and breakfast will be followed by a range of activities and play, including sessions outdoors either in our nursery garden or at a local park (weather permitting). The children will then have lunch before quiet time and naps if needed. There will then be more learning activities and outdoor play, and the day will be rounded off with tea before collection

Do you offer extra curricular activities?

Yes. Classes in the nursery are included in the price of your fee, but any offsite activities may incur an additional cost, which we will inform you about ahead of the event.

Do you take the children out to parks and playgrounds?

Yes, we will take the children out to our local green spaces and playgrounds regularly. We also have our nursery garden which the children will have access to daily.

Do you have an Ofsted rating?

As we are a new nursery we don’t have an Ofsted rating yet but by the time we open we will be registered with Ofsted. This means that Ofsted will have been to and approved our premises and directors. In line with Ofsted regulations, they will be coming to do an inspection within the first 30 months of opening. We will inform parents as and when this happens.

What qualifications do your staff have?

From highly qualified and experienced childcare practitioners to talented apprentices, our staff team are a diverse and dedicated group. Each nursery room will have at least one senior member of staff leading it at all times.

Will my child be assigned a key person?

Yes. Each child will be assigned a key person, who will be their main carer and your first point of contact. You will meet and liaise with your key person during settling in periods and be in regular dialogue with them throughout your child’s time at Kensal House Nursery.

How will I know how my child is doing at nursery?

You will be greeted by your child’s key person for drop off every day, and you will be able to chat about the progress he or she is making. We will also send reports home regularly and hold a parents’ evening every six months. You will also be given a login to Famly App so you can see pictures of your child and see what they have been up to that day and much more.

What meals do you offer?

We offer breakfast, lunch and tea. Children will also be offered regular snacks and they will have access to water and milk throughout the day.

Do you cater for allergies?

Yes. We cater for allergies, intolerances and preferences (cultural and non-cultural). Our nursery manager and chef will ensure that your child has a healthy and balanced diet, meeting their individual needs.

What security measures do you have in place?

CCTV accessed by only senior staff, secure entry to each of the children’s rooms (only staff can access via key fob). All staff will be trained in safeguarding and be subject to an enhanced DBS checked.

Do you have CCTV that parents can log into?

No, we don’t have CCTV which parents can view. But we do have CCTV in all of the rooms and Garden area which only senior staff have access to. This will help us ensure that your children are fully safeguarded while they are in the nursery.

Can my child sleep at nursery?

Yes, we have cots for the babies and soft sleep mats for toddlers and older children. Each child will have bedding allocated to them which will be washed regularly.

Do you support potty training?

Yes, our team will support your child with potty training.

Do you offer a discount for Jaego’s House?

Yes, we offer a 20% discount for all membership options.

Can I park at the nursery for longer than dropping my child off at nursery?

No, we don’t have any parking spaces available at the nursery, however you will be able to pull into the car park to drop your child off. We do have parking spaces for Jaego’s House if you are a member and using the club facilities.

Do you have a buggy park?

Yes, we have a safe, dry place where you can leave your buggies/scooters.
